Westlife was formed in 1998. The member of it are all Irish. Three of them-Mark Kian and Shane are from Sligo. They were classmate when they were at middle school. They wanted to form a band. So, they formed a band with another three classmate. But the company just want Mark Kian and Shane, soon they get Nicky and Bryan after a test.

　　In 1999, they have their first album, the first album called ‘Westlife’. It achieved four platinum in the Britain. As a new band, it is wonderful. This album contain 5 championship songs, it break the record. Next year , new album ‘coast to coast’ comes out. It achieved seven platinum in Britain. It is their first championship album.
　　Till 2003, they get twelve championship songs and three championship album.It is splendid.
　　In 2004, unfortunately, one of the lead singer-Bryan left the band. The band was nearly disband.
　　But in 2005, their new album ‘Face to Face’ let them have championship song again. It make them brand-new.

In the tradition of British and Irish boy bands like Take That and Boyzone comes Dublin's Westlife, a quintet consisting of Shane Filan, Nicky Byrne, Bryan McFadden, Mark Feehily, and Kian Egan. Filan, Egan, and Feehily were among the group's six founding members, but the other half of the group was dispatched when Louis Walsh, Boyzone's manager, took interest in them. This made room in the band for Byrne and McFadden; Walsh also introduced Westlife to Boyzone vocalist and solo artist Ronan Keating, who became the group's co-manager shortly after they cemented their recording contract. The group's first single, 1999's "Flying Without Wings," entered the U.K. charts at number one, a feat they replicated with "Seasons in the Sun" and "Swear It Again" in 2000. Their self-titled debut album met with similar chart-topping success and quickly went platinum in their homeland.
