What are knights? Knights are armed horse riders who can move quickly on the battlefields. Since the Middle Ages, knights were considered to be the soul of armies. Although they attacked fiercely during a war, knights knew the art of protecting themselves. They could use all kinds of weapons, and protected their homeland from being attacked by their enemies.
Usually we read the tales of knights in many books, however, knights cannot be found now days. Perhaps hundreds of years ago, a knight was swearing at a king’s castle. How time flies... Castles had fallen, in where knights were buried.
Knights were not only born for wars, but also had something special sometimes, for example, Chivalry. Chivalry means the spirit of knights. A knight must obey the rules of Chivalry throughout his life to win the honor. By the twelfth century, chivalry had come to mean an entire way of life. Knights should protect women and the weak, champion justice against injustice and evil, and love their homeland. They are the symbol of justice.
People often laugh at a famous knight named Don Quixote. He considered the windmill to be a giant, so he fought with it bravely. Most people think that this knight is very funny. I am afraid I don’t think so. In my opinion, although Don Quixote was foolish, we should not ignore his spirit easily, because he was a real knight. He was always ready to help others, when he found the bad things he would always try his best to struggle against them.
Actually, Don Quixote is the last knight who is still alive. For hundreds of years, we had lost our knights. We had lost our heroes, that is, we had made the spirit of knights disappeared. No one does what the knights did. Only a few people are willing to fight for their homeland. Relations between people became strange.
We need Chivalry in modern times. I hope that everyone will be kind to others like a knight. In fact, I dreamed to be a knight when I was very young. I imagined that I could defeat the power of darkness someday. Even though I had realized that is impossible now, my dream will be never fade.
