be afraid to do 是担心做某事
be afraid of doing 是害怕做某事

be afraid to do 害怕去做。

be afraid of doing 做过的事情而后怕。
to do sth 与doing sth,从常理上讲，可以认为前者是非一般性动作，后者是习惯性动作。这样可以分辨出来。
he get used to getting up early
he have to get up early to study,because the exam is drawing near!

其实都一样，没有什么没有做和正在做的，口语上用起来是一样的

be afraid to do 害怕去做（没有做）如：
I'm afraid to walk in the street by myself at night.
be afraid of doing 做过的事情而后怕。如：
I am afraid of walking in the street that night.

前者：害怕去做（没有做）
后者：正在做着害怕的事情（正在做）
