People suffering from a disease caught from snails in Beijing have formed a group to demand compensation from the restaurant where they were infected. Scores of people became ill after eating raw or half-cooked Amazonian snails in the restaurant.
They gathered on Sunday at the hospital to receive treatment.
At least 80 people in Beijing have contracted the disease after eating Amazonian snails, called fushouluo in Chinese, at the restaurant.
Beijing health authorities have confirmed it was the restaurant's improper cooking of the snails that led to the outbreak.

The first group of Chinese air marshals will leave for the United States next month for a two-week anti-terror training program, the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC) said yesterday on its website.
This marks the first cooperative venture between China and the US in aviation security.
Since the September 11, 2001 attack, the world's civil aviation security has been under threat from international terrorists.
As the latest terrorist plot once again alerted the industry that the terrorist threat still exist. So collaboration is urgently needed.
At least 2,000 Chinese air marshals have served on domestic and international air routes since the force was built up since 2004. The majority of the air marshals don't wear uniforms. But the CAAC doesn't want to say more about their work.

Shanghai municipal government has signed letters of guarantee with its districts and county to impose tough new pollution limits that exceed national standards.
Shanghai tries to reduce effluents detected by the chemical oxygen demand test by 15 percent and sulfur dioxide discharges by 26 percent by 2010.
China has demanded a 10 percent cut in both pollutants during the same period. So the municipality plans to invest 4 billion yuan to upgrade desulfurization equipment. Officials said this would cut sulfur dioxide discharges by 190,000 tons a year.
Also, over the next four years, dozens of sewage treatment plants will be built.

Tan Dun, a composer, is now a winner of today's most prestigious musical honors including the Grawemeyer Award for classical composition, a Grammy Award, an Academy Award and Musical America's "Composer of The Year".
Born with an enterprising spirit, Tan learned to transcend the musical genres of Hunan Drum Opera, Peking Opera and western music. Following the musical success, Tan produced another piece for famous Chinese director Zhang Yimou's Hero, a Kong Fu film released in 2002.
Some said he helps people to reconceptualize themselves and their own cultures and enables the world to experience beautiful Chinese melodies in the generations to come.

China's economy grew 10.2 percent last year, instead of the previously announced 9.9 percent, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) announced yesterday with the difference in monetary terms amounting to nearly US$10 billion.
The bureau revised the 2005 gross domestic product from 18.2321 trillion yuan (US$2.279 trillion), as announced in January, to 18.3085 trillion yuan (US$2.289 trillion).
The difference was mainly contributed by manufacturing, mining and agriculture while growth in the services, or tertiary, industry was smaller than previously thought.

China will strengthen cooperation with the international community in the space industry, aiming for the peaceful development of space.
China would also seek to expand its share of the international market for satellite launches and other space services.
In the next five years, China will work with Pakistan in the development and launch of three earth resources prospecting satellites.
China will also manufacture and launch telecommunications satellites for Nigeria and Venezuela, according to contracts already signed.

China and Venezuela on Thursday signed eight agreements on a range of issues, including two on expanding energy cooperation, pointing to stronger ties between the two countries.
First, strengthen high-level exchanges and expand strategic consensus.
Second, deepen reciprocal cooperation and speed up common development.
Third, enhance cultural exchanges and mutual understanding with expanded cultural, education, science, technology, media, and tourism exchange.
Chavez previously visited China in October 1999, May 2001, and December 2004.
