美国着名民谣歌手

在美国本土，Don McLean最出名的歌是American Pie。当这首长达8分27秒的歌作为单曲唱片刚推出时，是分A、B两面的。因为它的长度，当时的AM电台根本不肯完整地播放这首歌，因此反响不大。幸运的是，当时刚刚出现的调频电台出于同调幅电台竞争的考虑，对试验音乐多有青睐。American Pie完整版本在FM电台一经播出，立即获得成功，几乎在一夜之间窜上排行榜首位。这首歌翻唱版本甚多，最出名的应该是以前劈大腿，现在开始写童话的Madonna的版本。

??我最喜欢的Don McLean的歌是《And I Love You So》，温厚的嗓音娓娓道来自己的爱，一切都安静下来，捧杯热茶，抑或咖啡、牛奶，听这样一个男人对爱的道白。猫王Elvis Presley也唱过，但我听得目光呆滞、毫无感觉。

??Garth Brooks是比较被人接受的Don的翻唱者。他唱过Empty Chairs，也和Don一起演绎过American Pie。
