David(D): hi! Is this seat taken? would you mind me sitting here?
Nancy(N): Of course not.Nice to meet you, too. My name is Nancy.
D:Thank you so much. I really appreciate that.
N: You are welcome. My name is Nancy. Nice to meet you.
D: David. Nice to meet you, too. Where are you from?
N: I am from New York. How about you?
D: I am from L. A. This is my first time to China. God, I have never seen so many people and bicycles in my entire life!
N: right. I come here every year. I just love this country.It is fantastic.
D: oh yeah? Tell me something interesting, please.
N: sure. But let us order our food first. I am starving.
D: oh me, too. Excuse me,sir, can we order, please?

Sally and Harry will meet.Harry is not familiar with the town. So Jane asked Linda about the directions.
A( Sally): Hello.
B(Harry): Hi, Sally. It’s Harry.
A: Harry! What a surprise. It’s been a long time!
What have you been up to?
B: Keeping busy. Listen. I’m in town this afternoon. I’ve
got some shopping to do and I was wondering if you’d
like to join me and possibly go for a movie.
A: I’d love to. What do you need to buy?
B: Well, I’ve got a job interview coming up so I need to
buy a suit.
A: In that case, you should check out Weinnermans.
They are having a grand opening sale. All items in
stock are 50% off.
B: Sounds good. The only problem is I don’t know how to
get there.
A: Well, where are you now?
B: I’m at Edmund Station.
A: I am not familiar with that location. Hold on. let me ask my collegue Jane.
B: Ok.
A: Hi, Jane, do you know how to get to Weinnermans from Edmund Station?
C(Jane): Well, I only drove there once and it took me an hour to get there. The traffic was really bad. I think you'd better take the public transportation.You may ask Linda. She knows the train very well.
A: Thank you.
C: You are welcome.
A: Hi, Linda! I am sorry to bother you. Could you kindly tell me how to get to Weinnermans from Edumnd Staion?
D(Linda): Take the Blue Line to Oak Station and then
transfer to the Green Line. Get off at Buchon
and go out exit number 4. You can’t miss it.
A: You said exit number 4, right?
D: That’s right.
A: Thank you so much.
D: Anytime.
A: Hi, Harry, it's me again. I got the directions now.You take the Blue Line to Oak Station and then transfer to the Green Line. Get off at Buchon
and go out exit number 4.
B: great! Shall we meet at 1 o’clock?

Jane is planning a New year party in her house.She is calling her friend Susan to come over .
J: Hi! This is Jane. Is Sue home?
S: Hi! Jane, This is Sue .How are you?
J: Fine. Just busy with my school work and with the holiday shopping. How about you?
S: I’m fine, too. Are you planning anything special for the New Year?
J: Yes, that is what I am going to tell you.. Paul and I decide to hold a New Year party in my house on New Year’s eve. We would like to invite you and Steven and your kids over.
S: That’s great! What time will the party start?
J: 7:30. You know I also invite our friend Liz over, too. I think we will have a good laugh then.
S: Oh, I can’t wait for the party. I think the kids will be very excited, too. Thank you so much for inviting us.
J: our pleasure. See you then.
S: see you. Bye.
