朋友节 起源于中国，阳历2月13日。东汉许慎《说文解字》明确表示：朋，假借也,表示群鸟聚在一起的情形。最早见于远古时代的象形文字甲骨文。形为二月，故朋友节定在2月。13取谐音有“一生”之意，象征朋友是一生的朋友。阳历2月13在春节附近，通常在后，刚好春节探亲、友节访友。而其后一天2月14为情人节，这一点也体现了朋友与情人的关系，情人首先得是朋友，天下无不散之宴席，当所有朋友尽兴而归后，留下陪你度过另一个节日的那位通常便是你的情人。
