exact 和 precise 都有精确的，准确的意思，但同时又存在细微的差别。

【Exact 】这个词主要强调在一定数量和质量方面的极度准确，如精密的科学，精确的记忆等，有严密的准确的（strictly accurate）。强调各细节（数量或质量）均与事实或范例完全符合，甚至于丝毫不差。如：

an exact copy of the painting. 那幅画的精确复制品。

What were his exact words? 他的原话是什么？

【Precise 】这个词主要强调范围界限的鲜明和细节方面的高度准确，表达叙述“明白，无误”，表达事物在细微的细节上（mimute details）也非常“正确、精细”如：

Can you give a more precise definition of
the word? 你能给这个词下个更确切的定义吗？

I can’t give you a precise date.我无法给出精确的日期。

（这里用precise强调计算的精细，准确，如用exact则侧重数字与事实准确相符。）
