Legend——Yuchi Linjia
Have you seen the programme, Host Challenge ? If your answer is “yes”, you must know the champion of 2005 who lasted 9 rounds in the programme named Yuchi Linjia. He used to be an ordinary university student whose major is computer science. But now he is a formal host in Phoenix Satellite Television which is well-know all over the world.
Yuchi was born on July 7th , 1982. When he was a little boy, he was very shy. He always liked staying home alone and didn’t like to talk with others. But he liked imitating the expressions and actions of characters in cartoon movies very much.
When Yuchi was in high school, an accident changed his mind. He suddenly thought that a person should have the courage to show himself to others. Since then, Yuchi became a little more out-going and have been glad to communicate with his friends and teachers. He was the backbone in literature and art in his university. During the four years, he set up a troupe and made many short plays that were very interesting. From then on, more and more people have known Yuchi’s brilliance. The teachers and students liked him very much because of his humour and his gift of hosting and acting. At that moment, Yuchi made up his mind to be a host though his major was computer science. Hearing of this, his father didn’t stop Yuchi because he believed that his son could make a right choice by himself.
In June, 2004, Yuchi attended the programme, Host Challenge on CCTV-3. He made an excellent performance. His talk was full of humour that could often bring a lot of fun to people. He always gave people surprises and made more people know the 22-year-old sunny boy who was always full of energy. Yuchi beat many opponents and had been a champion for nine times. When he stepped on the stage for the last time, he said that he was too tired to continue. So he withdrew from the competition. Ma Dong, the host of the programme thought highly of him and said, “Yuchi is the milestone of our programme. Today we will give him the champion flag as a present and wish him a bright future.”Yuchi will be the champion forever though he left.
After his leaving, more than 20 TV channels offered him with a high pay. But Yuchi refused. He had never been arrogant; instead, he was very modest about his success. Yuchi knew that he had a long way to go to be a qualified host and need self-improvement. The so-called success in the programme was simply the beginning.
Yuchi went to CCTV to be a reporter who didn’t have high income and wasn’t as famous as a host when he graduated from He Bei University. But he had never regretted what he chose. Because he knew his choice was right.
At that time, Yuchi had had many fans on the internet. They loved him very much but not crazy. They all regarded him as a friend even a relative because he was so approachable, just like a boy who lived next door. Fan’s love made him more confident. On July,7th in 2005, the day that was Yuchi’s 23rd birthday, he searched the internet to meet his fans and said to them, “Whenever, we are a family. I will work hard to make my dream come true, not only for myself but also for all of you. I won’t make you disappointed.”
During the time when Yuchi stayed in CCTV, he accumulated many experience and was perfectly capable of being a formal host. In December,2005, Phoenix Satellite Television invited Yuchi. He accepted their invitation to be a host there.
Yuchi’s success can set an example for us. He has the courage to show himself, seeks after his dream and never gives up. Owing to this, an ordinary university student who learned computer becomes a successful host.
