不清楚你用的哪本词典，但我在《英语高考必备》的词典中查到：
miss做动词的时候，意思是
1）未击中；未赶上；未找到；未遇到，未看到，未听到
2）想念，怀念；惦念
3）发觉...丢失
4）遗漏；省去

其中第二意思应该就是你要的答案，miss做“想念”意思的时候，后面可以加上v.-ing或n.

所以I miss you中的miss应该是想念的意思。。。。
