  获奖者将在2006年5月6日的星云奖晚宴上揭晓。

  候选名单的几个特点:

  1。 奇幻多于科幻。

  2。 三大科幻杂志里,SF&F(科幻和奇幻)杂志的作品(6篇)比Asimov's Science Fiction(2篇)和Analog(算上长篇2篇)加起来还多。原因是SF&F发的奇幻多些?科幻在衰落吗?实际上前两年的优秀科幻不少。

  3。 2004年的作品比较2005的多。

  4。 俺只看过两篇。 Joe Haldeman的长篇Camouflage。这部小说我一打开看介绍就被吸引住了。结果几乎是手不释卷地看完的。这部书讲的两个落难的外星人伪装成人类在人类社会中求生的故事。出版时好像反响不是很大,现在好像越来越多人注意这本书了。有人称这是Joe Haldeman写得最棒的长篇小说了。Joe Haldeman的长篇Forever War和Forever Peace都是星云雨果奖的双料得主啊。俺看的另一篇是俺的科幻老师Nancy Kress的My Mother, Dancing。老师亲手给俺的东东自然要学习的啦。这篇关于遥远未来的外星移民的故事写得十分精致伤感。俺已经把这篇译了出来,不久应该在国内出版。抱歉,版权问题,不能贴在这里。英文原文现在还可以在Asimov's SF杂志的主页上看得到:

  其他的候选作品里。Susanna Clarke的奇幻长篇处女作Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell和 已经获得了Kelly Link的奇幻短中篇The Faery Handbag是雨果奖的得主。Kelly Link还有另一篇作品,奇幻长中篇Magic for Beginners候选。长篇候选一个比较引人注目的是Terry Pratchett 的Going Postal。这是 Pratchett的幽默奇幻系列圆盘世界(Discworld)里的一部。Pratchett的圆盘世界系列超级畅销,却从没有得过星云雨果奖之类的大奖。难道这次要破例?

  Brook West, Nebula Award Report editor, announced the Final Ballot for the Nebula Awards® for 2005.

  The Nebula Awards® are voted on, and presented by, active members of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, Inc. Founded as the Science Fiction Writers of America in 1965 by Damon Knight, the organization began with a charter membership of 78 writers; it now has over 1,400 members, among them most of the leading writers of science fiction and fantasy.

  The Awards will be announced at the Nebula Awards® Banquet to be held at the Tempe Mission Palms Hotel in Tempe, Arizona on Saturday, May 6, 2006.
