Most of the viewer of this movie would sense the core idea of it: American dream. The basic creed of American dream is that government provided their citizen with a fair environment and legislation so that everyone can participate in social competition and as long as they work hard they can achieve any goal by individual effort. Time has passed, racial and sexual discrimination is still a serious problem in the U.S.A. The men who realize their "dream" are just few. Under this circumstance American dream is no longer fully and unconditionally accepted by most people. "Forest Gump "is just exporting the cultural idea through globalized communication system, which was often called "cultural imperialism".

Cultural interaction between distinct nations should base on mutual respect. However, American is selling their idea and concept by a popular and interesting means—movie. We should clearly understand that American dream is a fake dream, containing unreal information about life, career and attitude toward individualism. To transfer this fake idea abroad is not respectful to people who have an open mind but less sense of judgment.

People may think that I am too aggressive to connect a movie with politics. They would refute against me with a proposition that movie is just an entertainment and relaxation. But we must be aware that movie is always concerned with the environment in which the story happens including politics, especially an influential one. French philosopher Michael Foucault have proved that the centuries-long connection between knowledge and power. Nowadays movie is representing mass culture trend and anyone who produces a movie should take social responsibilities into consideration.

In this sense, movie is not merely an entertainment. A fake but popular dream would raise our attention. We just live in realty but not dream.
