⑴ 表示过去某一点时间正在进行的动作或状态。
I was watching TV at 11 last night.
⑵ 表示过去某一段时间内一直进行的动作或状态，但说话时动作并没有发生。

⑶ 表开始，表结束，表移动的瞬间动词（come, go, arrive, leave, start）用在过去进行时中，表示过去的将来即将发生的动作或状态

以现在为起点，在这之前的都为过去都用过去式。
你可以画个箭头，中间是零，表示现在now,那么现在的左边就是现在的过去，右边就是将来future.

过去进行时 ，表示过去正在进行和发生的事情。比如，现在你正在看书，You are reading. 昨天这个时候你也在看书，那么be动词变为过去式，就成了You were reading 。格式为 be动词过去式+ v.ing动词的ing形式。

过去进行时表示过去某个时间正在进行的动作，这个你应该知道。
但是，过去进行时也可以表示过去将来时，就像现在进行表示一般将来一样，这个是近年来的热点考点。比如上周周五你给我打电话的时候我正开会。

答案B.句中的as = when, while，意为"当……之时"。描述一件事发生的背景时，用过去进行；一个长动作发生的时候，另一个短动作发生。句意为 "在她看报纸时，奶奶睡着了。"句中的 fell (fall的过去时)，是系动词，后跟形容词，如：fall sick。
