定冠词the的读音有三个：[Ji:]，[Ji]和[J+]。作为单词读第一个音[Ji:]。在短语或句子中在元音开始的词前读[Ji]，如：

the oranges the old woman
定冠词the后面的词以辅音开始，the就读作[J+]，如：
the train the long train
字母u是个元音字母，如单词的起始字母是u，读音是[ju:]，是以辅音[j]开始，它前面的the就不必读[Ji]而读[J+]。如：the USA。
