I think no matter where this discussion goes, i am still think that it is the young people's responsibility to take care of their old parents, just like they were taken good care of by their parents when they were little. but, on the other hand, i am not saying that the state or government has nothing to do with taking care of the old. of course, it is the government's responsibility to build a practical welfare system so that people can save up enough money to afford their retirement years. then, the young people can financially relieved and more focused on the old people spiritual needs rather than material needs. for example, spending more time with them, talking with them, listening while they are talking...these things are far more important than providing them just food or money.
as far as i concerned, i really think it is a good idea that the state and individuals cooperate on this matter and benefit the old people as much as possible. because they are the ones who have devoted all their time, energy for the development of our society and the world would not be as it is today without their efforts and contribution!
