Public speaking as i believe so, requires much skill and practise. It is not something that most people would be comfortable to do without any preparation before the actual speech.
I think the most benefitial bit of Public speaking is allowing one to face the audience with confidence and learning to voice out one's opinions to the public without any hold-back. From Learning to finally stepping out bravely to face the audience, one must first understand the whole course and learn some impromto skills. This will definitely benefit one to be more intellectually abled, allowing one to hold a conversation better. It also trains the brain to be more active and will in turn respond quicker, this will definitley come in handy when caught in a situation.Public speaking also brings one's confidence to a higher level, which will in turn benefit the speaker in voicing out his opinions and raise questions to the public.
As can be easily understood by the reasons given above, public speaking definitely brings much benefits to the speaker in terms of mentally and physically...
