different from / different than
在英语和美语中这两个搭配都很常见。英式英语中还有different to这种用法。意思当然都是“与……不同”。有意思的是，自18世纪初，语言学家往往将different than划为错误用法，但一些大作家仍在使用这个搭配。
如果你对自己的用词非常严格的话，则参考以下规则：
一、当比较两个人物或物体的时候用different from：
My book is different FROM yours.
二、当被比较物是用从句表示的时候可用different than，但也只限美式英语：
The campus is different THAN it was 20 years ago.
三、但如果这个从句前有连词，则仍使用different from：
The campus is different FROM how it was 20 years ago.
